Press Launch

These photos were for an international pharmaceutical company.  They were holding a press launch for pharmaceutical and medical journalists from around the globe.  No-one was taking photos apart from me, and I understand that some of the images I took (only a fraction of the total taken are displayed here) will be used in medical journals in half a dozen different countries (sadly no photo credits).

They specifically wanted a documentary style with no flash, only available light.  Increasing, that is becoming my speciality, and I was quite comfortable in the role.

Black walls, ceiling and carpet

I recently completed a two day job for a Pharmaceutical company in London.  As well as documenting their press launch and conference, I also had to photograph their guests at an evening dinner on the 23rd floor of the hotel - overlooking the city.

It was a real challenge with restaurant intimacy dictated by the black painted walls, ceiling and a black carpet.  I was under instruction to avoid using flash (which I would've done anyway), and even if I had wanted to, there was no way to bounce the flash (with everything being, yup, black!).

Despite everything stacked against me, the equipment performed brilliantly.  Some of my favourite images of the night are below.  Please feel free to leave you comments at the end of the photos.

Photo info:
I had two cameras with me, the Canon 5D MkII fitted with a 24mm f/1.4 lens - and a Canon 1D MkIV with the 85mm f/1.2.  ISOs were set at 3200, and shutter speeds sometimes went as low as 1/13 second.
